Mara Minwegen received her education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, earning a BA in History and a BAA in Teaching English and French. She also studied Russian at the Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey. She has taught English and History for 15 years, beginning her career on the Zuni reservation, spending one year as principal of Assumption School in Hibbing, Minnesota, and the last 14 years in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. 

     Ms. Minwegen was president of the Rio Rancho School Employees Union from 1999 through 2002, and was chief negotiator for a contract covering 1,100 employees. She ran for District 44, New Mexico State House of Representatives, in the 2002 election. 

     Ms. Minwegen was the Academic Dean of Albuquerque Country Day School during the 2003-2004 school year. After spending a year working as a journalist for The Nucleus on Kirtland Air Force Base, she returned to teaching in 2006, joining the staff of Bernalillo High School, Bernalillo, NM. She is currently devoting herself full time to One World Editing and freelance journalism.

     Since 1995, Ms. Minwegen has worked as an editor for the noted translator, Akio Kadonaka. She has edited patent applications encompassing legal, scientific, and technical terminology. In related areas, she has also edited newsletters, newspaper articles, press releases, presentations, short literary works, and several novels. Her specialty is in editing technical writing from translation.
